The Title I program is federally funded and its purpose is to support local districts in improving teaching and learning to help low-achieving students in high poverty schools meet the same challenging state content and performance standards that apply to all students. The program promotes effective instructional strategies that increase the amount and quality of learning time for at-risk children and that deliver and enriched and accelerated curriculum. Title I services are supplemental to the core and are delivered by qualified reading teachers. Assessment results will be used to identify students with the greatest need. Throughout the school year students may enter or exit the program and progress will be closely monitored. Depending on severity of the needs, some of our Title I students will be placed in an intensive intervention program called Response to Intervention.
